Re : Automate Patch Deployment doesn't wake up PCs

I am having very similar issue.  A support tech did look at my logs and all he told me was something about two different time zones.  I have no clue what he is talking about so my issue still persists.  Seems like the WOL feature for deployment was not really ready to be released.  It just does not work as expected.

Re : Issue with Software Inventory

Hi Rob and Greg,

Thanks for your update,

After the changes, it require a complete schedule scan to show the correct scan details. A manual scan would not fix the scenario. However request Rob and Greg to contact "Desktop Central Support" to resolve this scenario.

The reported scenario is handled in 90140 and request to complete a schedule scan to see the correct result.

Thanks for your cooperation,

Regards,

Re : Issue with Software Inventory

Thanks Leonard.  I've had a week's worth of scheduled inventory scans with the same results:  older versions of the Adobe Flash, AIR, Firefox and Chrome continue to accumulate.  As I mentioned about, after clearing my inventory results (using the tool provided by Support), the inventories were cleaned out and looked good, but after subsequent application updates, the same problem has started occurring again.  This is on Build 90142.  It's a pain, but the Patch Mgmt results look fine.

Absolutely. Thank you for the quick reply.

Domain Controller Required?

Is a domain controller required in order to use this software?

Re : Domain Controller Required?

I use a local admin account to scan and deploy updates, so I think the answer is no, you don't need an Active Directory environment to make Desktop Central function properly.  It might be a bit of a nightmare if your managed clients (workstations/servers) had different sets of local admin credentials though.  Have you installed Desktop Central on your network and given it a try?

Remote Control - log the reason for remote connection

We have this option turned on but I can not find anywhere that we can see the reasons we have entered.  It is not a column on the history tab in remote control.  I do not see any reports for remote control.  So where is it logging this and how can we see it?

Thanks

Mike

Re : Domain Controller Required?

Hi Donna1,

Thank you for your post in our forums.

Desktop Central is capable of managing both work-groups and domain environments hence even if you don't have the domain controller for a domain, still you can manage them like work-group machines.

We need domain controller to collect the AD information which could be useful when you define the target such as OU's, AD groups etc.,

Appreciate your understanding.

Show AD computer description on the Scope of Management Screen

Is there a way or can you add the ability to see the active directory computer description on the Scope Of Management screen?  This would be very helpful when we are looking at computers that fail to install the agent or new agents as they are released.  Manually entering Notes or Owner on 1,300 computer is just not acceptable when we already have that information in the AD description.

Andy

Re : Show AD computer description on the Scope of Management Screen

Andy,

Absolutely - I vote for this strongly and other AD fields as well - we import the device from AD, so why not be able to add something like the description and status - we would like to record our disabled computers - we are having to manually add notes as well.

We have 4700 devices managed, so I feel your pain, and then some! :)

Dean

Re : New Skype Update not showing up in Desktop Central

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your patience,

I've consulted with my Patch team on this new release of Skype version 7.2.32.103. and learnt that its a preview version.

Hence it is not supported, however we would start support "Skype for Business Version 7.2.32.103" after its GA [official release] by April 2015. Please click here to know more about it.

Also please share me the details of from which link you've downloaded and installed the application along with the agent logs from the machine where you've installed the latest version of Skype 7.2.32.103. .

Please send me those details to support@desktopcentral.com for better assistance.

Looking forward to assisting you,

Re : Show AD computer description on the Scope of Management Screen

That's a lot of devices.  How do you keep up with patches on your mobiles that do not get brought in very often?  Do you open up Desktop Central via the Internet or use something else?
