Re : Map a drive

Hi Darren Moffat,

Thank you for writing back to us.

The Drive Mapping configuration enables you to map a remote network resource to the user machines. The mapped resource can then be accessed from the local machine using the drive name.

We don't have option to enter the credentials to map a drive to a shared resource.

So where do we stand with this?

As a 9.2 Build 92802 user should I be updating to the latest 9.2 hotfix or downloading 10 directly from the download site and installing it over my 9.2 install?

I've been after this but less the actual build version but the feature update version.

i.e. 1511 or 1607

Hello Stephen,

Yes, you are correct. As of now, Desktop Central not getting the major version. I've requested team to add this requirement in the product road map.

Patch Deployment Scheduling

$

I am working on creating groups for automatic deployment of patching.
My goal is to have everything go to the test group for approval / disapproval.
A week later have a larger group pick up the approved patches.
Finally, the rest of the computers picking up approved  patches a week after that.

my question is, If I set the group to "scan, download, and deploy missing patches." on a specific date, and they happen to be turned off that day. Will they pickup the "scan, download, and deploy" the next time they are turned on?

Or, is there a better way to achieve this result?

Configuration of Desktop Shortcut failed

I tried creating a computer configuration that is supposed to create a desktop shortcut to Chrome on the desktop.  After filling in all the fields I attempted to publish but the Deploy and Deploy Immediately buttons don't work.  The only way I was able to deploy was to save as a draft, return to the list of configurations, and then using the gear icon to show the context menu I deployed it from there.

After deployment the configuration fails on all machines.  On some machines the configuration remains at 'yet to apply' while others show the error 'Failed to download XML'

What do you suggest?

Thanks,
A

The reported issue seems something which isn't reported ever hence I would appreciate if you could contact support with the below details to assist you further on this.
  • Logs from the client machine which is staying at "Yet to Apply" status.
  • Logs form the client machine which failed with "Failed To Download XML"

Re : Patch Deployment Scheduling

Hi brandon,

Appreciate your post in our forums.

Basically you have two phases for the deployment to be completed via scheduled task.

Phase 1: Scanning, downloading the missing patches.

If you schedule a patch task to be run on a specific day and the machine isn't live on that particular time, the task will be applied to the machine as soon as it communicates the server.

The server will scan and download the required patches and move to the deployment phase.

Phase 2:  Deployment of patches.

The deployment phase completely works based on the deployment policy which is associated to the task. If you created the deployment policy with day/time to be specific, the patches will be deployed only on that specific day/time. In case the machine isn't live during the specific day/time, the agent will wait for the next schedule.

Trust the above information helps. Please revert for any clarifications.

How to create a default configuration to apply to all current and future desktops?

I created a configuration to set the default browser homepage and deployed it to all current desktops, but I would like it to automatically apply to new desktops when the DC agent gets installed.

Hi max ,

Greetings from DesktopCentral support team.

For this purpose ,you can choose your entire domain in the  Define Target option.

This configuration will automatically deploy required settings to the new computers added later to DesktopCentral since it is a part of the selected domain in the configuration.

Kindly revert for any clarification.
