Re : Issue upgrading agent to new build (90143)

Thanks for the heads-up, Dean.  What an amazing hidden gotcha that could impact any of us during a "routine" hotfix install. I've gone ahead and un-checked the "Enable Checksum Validation" on my Agent Settings (it's nice added security but not if it can cause such chaos). It doesn't instill much confidence in the hotfix testing process, does it?
Thanks again!  Rob

I have a batch file (cmd) I would like to run before running a custom install. I've tried a few different methods but can't get it to run the file. It already exists on the target. Just need to run it (creates a backup)...

Any idea's?

Thanks,

Trying to deploy a file/folder operation configuration

Hello,

I just upgraded from build 90066 to 90135 yesterday. I am trying to deploy a new File/Folder Operation Configuration by computer as I've always done and am now getting a prompt for a password with my user name showing. I entered it and nothing seems to be happening. What's going on here? Is there a new setting that I am unaware of in build 90135 or is this a bug?

Thanks,

Eric

One day later... and the world is all calm again.

I'm trying to find out if the reboot will happen any time it's upgraded. I realyl don't want stuff "pending reboot" to be rebooted regardless.

The msi/installer config has "Reboot=Really Suppress" but it seems to have ignored it in these cases.

Regards,

Dean

Hello Dean,

We include the msi option "reboot=really suppress" so that the Desktop Central Agent will not re-start the machine for upgrade.

Could you check the event entries on the affected machines to find which application initiated a restart?.

kind regards,

Hi,

yes I am aware that is what should have happened but here it is:

The process C:\Program Files (x86)\DesktopCentral_Agent\bin\dcmsghandler.exe (xx-xxxxxxx1) has initiated the restart of computer xx-xxxxxxx1 on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Legacy API shutdown

Reason Code: 0x80070000

Shutdown Type: restart

Comment: dc.agent.msghand.reboot.reboot_default_text

That is on the agent install as the computer was pending a reboot for updates which we wanted to do manually at the weekend.

Thanks,

Dean

Hello Dean,

dcmsghandler.exe initiate a restart for Patch or Software deployment. Could you check the deployment template that you used in Patch Install configuration? and also send me the Desktop Central Agent logs to support so that I can find the root cause for this issue.

kind regards,

A policy I created called "NO REBOOT" oddly enough with settings as follows.

I will email you the logs from the server as requested. It has been logged as ticket 14766760 already with no response yet. I will reply to that ticket notification with the logs if you can pick it up and I will reference this forum post as well.

Thanks,

Dean

New Skype Update not showing up in Desktop Central

It looks like there's a new skype release that has been out since the beginning of the month, version 7.2.32.103.

The patch management database in Desktop Central is still on 7.2.0.103.  When will it be updated?

Thanks

Sam

Re : Issue with Software Inventory

We have also installed hotfix 90142 and forced a scan on workstations, and duplicate entries still exist.

Adobe products seem to especially show this problem.  Adobe Flash Player (ActiveX and plugin versions), Adobe Reader, Shockwave all show multiple versions as installed, but when examining the system, only the current version is actually installed.

That's exactly the problem I was seeing (and I continue to see) in Build 10942 and 10935.
I opened a support ticket and was sent instructions for running an inventory reset against my managed clients.  Then I rescanned all of them and the results looked good (matched what was actually installed on the workstations).  But now I'm beginning to see the same problem as I update the Adobe AIR, Flash, Chrome and Firefox (since they seem to require updates every couple of weeks!).
I'd suggest you open a support ticket and at least get the capability to reset your machines' inventories.  Rob

Hi itops11

Appreciate your post in our forums.

Desktop Central software deployment module has the ability to run any script before installing the applications. Hope you have tried that. If not, please refer the below help document and create the package with pre-deployment scripts.

If the above isn't working for you, please contact support to get personalized assistance with the script and the task which you created.

Re : "Waiting for the presenter to join " error message

Hi Romanus and jobinjose,

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd post to it as it is still unresolved. Hopefully we'll be able to draw a line under this one...

I am getting the same issue with the following appearing in my attempt to remote control a Mac:

Java Viewer

Waiting for the presenter to join

I also have TeamViewer installed on this Mac, so I can see the Mac screen at the same time. I am getting nothing on the Mac, to indicate that a connection is being attempted or requested and the remote control session on the DC console just sits there indefinitely with the above message.

Unfortunately ActiveX isn't an option with Macs, so Java it is!

My DC build is: Build No:90104

Cheers,

David
